Using Technology in the Classroom.

I am excited about the future and incorporating technology into a physical education classroom.   I believe there is a stereotype that Physical Education teachers do include any technology in their teaching and I hope throughout my career that I can help prove this stereo type wrong.  I have listed a few ways I will use technology in my classroom, but I am not limited to these.
I will use a Teacher Web Page to communicate with my class and their parents.  It is a great way to set up the entire year.  On the web page, I will include information about myself and the school, contact information, classroom rules/procedures and a full list of outside resources.  One example of an outside resource that will be included on the web page is a list of fun activities one can do on a snow day.  A Teacher Web Page is valuable as a communication device.  Teachers can speak to the parents of the students and let them know how the year is going and even post pictures and videos of the class.
Using a Web Quest would an excellent way to implement the sports education model into a class. In a sports education model students will learn every aspect of a sports team, including the coaches, players, manager act. By using a Web Quest, I could have students look up all the information online the night before, rather than wasting precious class time.
Podcast are great to use in Physical Education. Many PE teachers can use them to set up a lesson they would like to do the following day. However, one-way I will like to use podcast is a soundtrack to my class. I cannot only put music on the Pod can also put instructions. For example, if I want to do a fifty-minute class in five-minute circuits, I can have the music switch every five minutes with the prerecorded instructions of what they are supposed to do.

Ethics

Computer ethics relates to the ethical values that should guide the computer professionals in their conduct.  Or, one could say it is the right and wrongs to using a computer and its related technologies.  A few examples of computer ethics are one should never use a computer to lie, steal, or harm
In a physical education setting I will teach computer ethics in a few different ways.  First is, I will always practice what I preach and use the proper copyrights when using a computer.  Another way I will teach ethics is by having the students do online reports and force the students to provide the correct copyright statements.
There are many pros to being ethical.  One it is legal and two it is the correct thing to do.  Everyone should treat others as they would like to be treated.  The only cons to be ethical is it will take one more time to find pictures and videos that do not have any copyright laws.

K12 Conference

To further increase my knowledge of incorporation education in the classroom, I decided to watch a section from the 2011 K12 online conference.  The section I watched was on a service located at www.edmodo.com.  Edmodo is a social networking service for teachers, students, and parents.  This website is a very kid friendly version of Facebook.
There are many pros to using www.edmodo.com in one’s classroom.   It is very user friendly for both teachers and students.  On the main page of the site are many how to videos if one has any questions.  Also, teachers have the ability to grade class work on the website and immediately send the grade to the students and their parents.
The cons of the website are very few.  Some are that the website is quite inflexible and does not have many different design or color schemes.  Also, students that do not have s PC at home will be unable to do any homework assigned on the webpage
